About Homer Stryker
Homer Stryker
Homer Stryker, a practicing orthopaedic surgeon in Western Michigan in the 1930's, discovered the need to improve his surgical instruments. To better treat his patients he invented a series of ingenious medical devices. These included such important advancements as the Stryker turning frame and the cast cutter with a unique oscillating blade. In 1946, Dr. Stryker founded the Stryker Orthopaedic Frame Company on the principle: he said, "Never make anything for profit alone."
This statement continues to guide Stryker Corporation today. Dr. Homer Stryker's commitment to improve orthopaedic care lives in all who come here to teach, to learn and to enhance the lives of patients around the world.
